Steve Birch reaches incredible milestone

We at Mauldons Brewery are excited this month as our Head Brewer Steven Birch reaches a grant total of 25,000,000 brewed pints! You can be sure that we will be pouring a pint to celebrate...

Steve’s brewing expertise has been pivotal at Mauldons Brewery for nearly 45 years. It is his dedication alongside unwaning passion that led him to create such favourites, that are the pride of Suffolk. His long commitment to brewing with us has lead many to believe he holds the record for the longest tenure at a single brewery in the UK.

Steve says: "Reaching 25 million pints is a huge milestone, but I’m not done yet! I’m excited to keep pushing the boundaries with new brews while staying true to the traditional techniques that make Mauldons’ beers what they are."

Our Black Adder is a true testament to Steve’s craftsmanship, having been crowned Champion Beer of Britain in 1991. Yet this is just one of the many awards received over countless decades of brewing.

Steve joined us in the early 1980s, when Mauldons returned to the ownership of the Mauldons Family. It was Peter Mauldon who entrusted Steve to continue his family’s legacy as Head Brewer. With Steve at the head, Mauldons is well known for its traditional brewing. He established a reputation of consistency and quality, while also expanding the range of seasonal specials from four annual brews to 12. It’s thanks to Steve that Mauldons are always innovating and finding new ways to continue producing award-winning ales!

Charlie Buckle, Owner of Mauldons Brewery, commented:
Steve’s dedication and skill have been the heartbeat of Mauldons for over four decades. To brew 25 million pints at a single brewery is an extraordinary achievement—one we believe is unmatched in the UK. His passion for traditional brewing methods, paired with a drive for innovation, is the reason our beers continue to win fans year after year.”
