More than 2,000 hospitality venues could shut their doors in 2026 without a solution to business rates. That comes from findings and modelling from UKHospitality.
It suggested that six venues will be forced to shut down every day, including 963 restaurants, 574 hotels, and 540 pubs, unless the government intervenes before April's revaluation.
Rising Costs
It's thought that pubs face a 15% rise in business rates bills from April. With business rates bills soaring, alcohol duty increasing and pubs getting no help with VAT, sky high energy bills and increased Employer National Insurance costs, it is no wonder that pubgoers are worried about seeing record rates of pub closures in 2026.
Support Your Local
That's why we're saying 'support your local'. Support your pubs and breweries if you want to keep them in the next few years... Pubs are a big part of British culture; they're much more than just a place to go for a drink, they are quite often the heart of the community.
